Apparently, this mathematical equation went viral in Japan suggesting that only 60 percent of those Japanese in their twenties who tried solving this equation were able to do so. This is compared to the 90 percent of Japanese during the 1980s who were able to solve this equation. What does that say about the much vaunted Japanese “educational system?” It suggests addiction to iPhones and institutional failure.

If mathematics isn’t your strong suit, this equation that went viral in Japan may just trip you up. According to the YouTube channel MindYourDecisions, a study found that only 60 percent of individuals in their 20s could get the right answer. This is significantly lower than the 90 percent success rate in the 1980s.
