Thursday, December 15, 2016 (Tokyo, Japan) – Welcome to Japan Vladimir Putin. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin arrived in Yamaguchi, Japan at the Yamaguchi Ube Airport in the city of Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture for a two day summit. Japan and Russia will continue security talks and will also continue discussing a territorial dispute that has kept Russia and Japan from signing a peace treaty formally ending World War Two. This territorial dispute is over the Kuril Islands. This marks Vladimir Putin’s first official visit to a G-7 country since Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea. All the very best to Vladimir Putin and hope the negotiations will continue to be mutually beneficial for both Russia and Japan.
